The British FV4005 has the privilege of having the biggest caliber for any ground vehicle in War Thunder. Its 183mm gun, shooting HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) rounds, will deal with most tanks on the battlefield with a single, decisive shot. It has its faults though and is not maneuverable, to say the least.

If you know you can pen them,with a solid shot aim to kill the gunner and some important module while with an aphe just aim center mass and boom goes the tank. You can check armor of any tank in game and also you can try penetration with other tanks. In hangar, click on armor under stat card on left side of the screen.

Other ammunition types often require learning tank layouts. You will not know all layouts of the tanks you are fighting. There are some particularly fun and forgiving USSR tanks around battle rating 3.3-4.3 (T-34s and KV-1s). USA and Germany would also be solid starter choices but IMO these have marginally steeper learning curves. The best tank: M4A3E2. Also known as Jumbo. Mr. Jumbo is known for having pretty decent armor all around, the main cannon ain’t too bad, it’s capable of dealing plenty of damage but the point of this tank is to provide cover for your allies that have weaker tanks and lead assaults.
